About the artist
Iiuyazi (Arya) Hou is a Senior Concept Artist with a decade of experience in the gaming industry, specializing in crafting immersive, visually compelling designs that breathe life into vivid worlds. “My true passion lies in storytelling and creature design”.
Beyond her professional work, Arya is deeply committed to her growth as an artist, focusing on becoming more sensitive, expressive, and self-accepting. This personal development allows her to channel her creativity with greater freedom. Originally from China, Arya’s journey in the U.S. has been both challenging and rewarding, especially as she navigated language and cultural differences. These challenges once led her to temporarily set aside her passion, but they ultimately shaped her resilience.
As an artist, self-expression is essential, and Arya learned the importance of taking personal time to nurture it. Through years of persistence, she developed a versatility in her work that provides with a sense of security and allows her to explore the themes she loves most, bringing joy and confidence. “I believe everyone has a little beast in their heart, I’d love to capture that and put it into my creation”.
Recently, she become fascinated by indigenous and African cultures, particularly their abstract, symbolic, and decorative qualities. She is eager to see how these influences will shape her art in the future.
Artwork Themes & Subject Matter
Iiuyazi (Arya) Hou’s personal art often reflects bizarre, mystical, and fantasy themes, inspired by her experiences, emotions, and dance. She sometimes dances to explore how she perceives certain emotions or people; the movement provides her with unique insights, helping to infuse her sculptures with dynamic energy. Arya’s passion for mysticism, psychology, and philosophy adds another perspective on the human experience, enriching her creations with depth and meaning. Through an impromptu process, she captures the energy of the moment, crystallizing fleeting emotions into sculptures. “My work invites viewers to explore the emotional layers within, making fantasy feel alive and deeply expressive”.
