About the artist
Marcos V. Monken is a Brazilian freelance fantasy illustrator based in Monaco. He was born in 1987 and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. He always loved drawing and creating stories with his characters. Before starting his art career, he graduated in fashion in Milan at Istituto Marangoni and worked for 10 years in the fashion industry.
In 2020, Marcos reconnected with his love for drawing and in 2021 had his first work as an illustrator for a publishing company in Brazil. Since then he decided to pursue illustration full time.
His main goal as an artist is to see his own work in things he grew up loving and love till this day, like card games, board games and books.
Artwork Themes & Subject Matter
Marcos V. Monken’s work is character driven and focused on the emotional narrative. Classical art, myth and folklore are heavy influences to his illustrations.
