About the artist
Caro Pepe born in Argentina, 1980, is an artist and muralist based in Berlin. After several years working in advertising as an art director in both Buenos Aires and Madrid, she decided to devote herself to her art full-time — a decision that led her to Berlin in 2012. The move marked the beginning of her career as a full-time artist; since then, she has traveled the world painting murals and exhibiting her work across Europe, South America, the United States, and Asia.
Artwork Themes & Subject Matter
My work explores the inner world and the complex nature of human emotions. Through figurative painting, portraiture and large-scale murals, I portray women whose defining feature (in most cases) is a single eye — a recurring motif that speaks about partiality: how what we choose to see, and what we leave out, shapes our perception of reality. Rather than treating this as a limitation, I see it as a form of honesty, since every way of seeing is incomplete. My characters appear suspended in the absence of background or time, isolated from context so that the viewer’s attention rests entirely on their emotional presence. The result is quiet, introspective imagery about intimacy, vulnerability, memory and self-perception, carried by subtle symbolism rather than explicit narrative. Whether on canvas, on paper or on the walls of cities across Europe, South America, the United States and Asia, my work aims to feel like a whispered truth: a private, delicate moment that invites the viewer to look inward.
