About the artist
Miguel Casco, a dynamic and multifaceted visual artist from Puebla, Mexico, skillfully merges his expertise in cultural management, information design, photography, and museography to craft a distinctive artistic voice. A magna cum laude graduate in Fine Arts from the University of the Americas Puebla, and holding a master’s degree in Information Design, Casco has honed his artistic prowess through an array of prestigious seminars and workshops.
Currently serving as the Deputy Director at the Museum of the Chancellery and a faculty member at Sunland Artistic High School in Mexico City, Casco has been instrumental in curating over 40 exhibitions, making a significant impact on the contemporary art landscape. His work, exhibited in notable shows such as “Send Nudes” and “Playground,” probes into themes of corporeality, illusionism, and societal norms related to nudity and censorship.
One of Miguel Casco’s notable projects, “El Desayuno,” masterfully intertwines performance, video, installation, and painting to explore the intricacies of human nature and societal frameworks. His “Send Nudes” project, a poignant response to the digital age’s reshaping of personal intimacy, transforms shared private photographs into evocative paintings. Alongside “Pxrnpics,” a project that introspectively examines contemporary sexuality and visual culture, these works underscore Casco’s acute engagement with modern dilemmas and the influence of technology on human interactions.
Residing and working in the Historic Center of Mexico City, Casco relentlessly explores the nuances of human existence, juxtaposing life’s fleeting moments with the enduring nature of art. His comprehensive approach and dedication to challenging societal perceptions through his artistry establish him as a significant and influential voice in the realm of contemporary art.
