About the artist
Blanka Křemenová work emerges from a lifelong dialogue between introspection, allegory, and the layered textures of human experience. For more than twenty years I have dedicated myself to painting, not as a mere craft, but as a way of being in the world. Her canvases are moments frozen like film stills, where figures, gestures, and gazes carry narratives that defy easy explanation yet resonate with the universal. “At the heart of my practice is the human figure — a vessel of thought, emotion, and contradiction”. Through staged situations and symbolic composition, she delves into the internal and external forces that shape our lives: philosophical reflections, historical echoes, and the unseen politics of psychology and society. These elements are woven with dreamlike and sometimes disquieting atmospheres, where realistic forms intersect with abstracted, shadowy spaces to evoke both familiarity and mystery.
Blanka’s technique blends tradition and intuition. she works primarily in oil and acrylic, embracing the disciplined methods of the old masters alongside the immediacy of alla prima and impasto. Whether through oil on canvas or charcoal on paper, each piece is rooted in a search for truth, not the factual, but the felt truth of memory, imagination, and existential inquiry.
She see painting as synesthetic: akin to a film paused at its most evocative second, a synecdoche of a deeper story. “My art is an invitation, to pause, to reflect, and to confront both the beauty and the uncertainty of what it means to be human”
Artwork Themes & Subject Matter
Blanka Křemenová’s work explores the human condition through themes of introspection, allegory, and psychological tension. She focuses primarily on the human figure, using staged scenes and symbolic elements to examine inner states, memory, identity, and the unseen forces that shape our behavior, philosophical, historical, and subtly political. The atmosphere of her paintings often oscillates between the dreamlike and the unsettling, where realism meets ambiguity and narrative remains open-ended.
She is drawn to moments of quiet intensity: gestures, gazes, and pauses that suggest a larger story beyond the frame. Through these images, she invites viewers to reflect on vulnerability, power, and existential uncertainty, allowing personal interpretation to become an integral part of the work.
