About the artist
Luca Ximenes, known as DesX, is an Italian artist born in 1976 in L’Aquila and currently based in Rome. With a background in architecture, he skillfully integrates technical expertise with a profound passion for visual arts. He works primarily in oil painting, muralism, and street art. Active since the early 1990s, he gained recognition for his work in public spaces and the underground scene. His artistic identity is characterized by a research-driven approach focused on fragmentation and layered imagery, creating complex visual narratives open to multiple interpretations. DesX is also the founder of the ReActo Fest, a street art festival dedicated to social and urban regeneration. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

DesX’s art centers on suspended, often female figures portrayed with lyrical realism and a meticulous focus on light and skin tones. His subjects frequently dissolve or fragment into visual glitches—digital-like distortions that challenge narrative continuity and evoke themes of emotional depth, absence, and shifting identity.
