About the artist
Martin Blanco born 1974 in Buenos Aires, resides in The Principality of Andorra. He is an internationally exhibited and awarded Digital and Traditional Artist with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts.
Experimenting with different techniques and boundaries, Martin has created his own style of creative narrative through Digital Art by mixing photographic manipulation and digital painting. In addition to his digital work, Martin is also dedicated to traditional art, creating detailed graphite drawings and oil paintings that explore both classical and contemporary themes. His mastery of these mediums allows him to express a wide range of ideas, from precise realism to imaginative interpretations, further enriching his artistic practice.
He has won 30 international awards, of which 10 are first prizes in several Drawing and Digital Art contests worldwide, including the award of “Best Comic Book” in the New York Horror Film Festival 2007.
His work has been the subject of a number of solo exhibitions in Argentina, Spain and Andorra and he has participated in more than 50 group and juried exhibitions, including events in New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Warsov, Florence, Dublin, among others.
Artwork Themes & Subject Matter
Martin Blanco has been exploring human nature and its weaknesses in the world we live in since 2008. Fears, anguish, anxieties, and everything that conditions us as the mortal beings we are. His work combines the tension between technique, emotion, and the subconscious by mixing the compositional rigor and chiaroscuro of Renaissance and Baroque painting with the conceptual freedom of surrealism, creating atmospheres that oscillate between beauty, density, and introspection. These influences coexist within his compositions, where contrasts of light and darkness not only define space but also mirror the emotional states of his figures.
For Martín, the meaning of an artwork lies beyond beauty itself. Composition, color, and light all serve a narrative function — instruments that translate an inner discourse into visual form. As he notes, “Creating something beautiful is not enough if it lacks meaning; beauty may define things, but it is not necessarily intrinsic.”
Martín’s intention is not merely to impress but to connect to invite viewers into a visual conversation that provokes thought and emotion. If the work succeeds in transmitting the essence of what he intended, then that exchange, that moment of reflection, becomes the true reward.
