About the artist

Maile Lani is a Nashville based artist and illustrator with a love for color theory and a background in Asian art. Working with a variety of mediums, she blends surrealism with modernist elements to create dream-like imagery that has deep roots in the natural world. Her main source of inspiration comes from her upbringing in art and antique business, where-in her family has been collecting Japanese and Chinese works of art for close to 40 years.

Artwork Themes & Subject Matter

Maile Lani’s work explores imagined worlds that blend myth, nature, and subtle surrealism into rich, symbolic paintings inspired by dreams and childhood memories. Her work leans on the more emotional and symbolic side, creating scenes that feel like little visual maps of places one may have forgotten to remember.
